Sim Models

Part of the joy of CSFBL is the ability to simulate different eras of baseball, matching the changes of baseball throughout history. There are three current simulation models in CSFBL with more planned - expect players and teams to perform differently in each. If you are looking to join a league in any of these eras, you can check the Choosing a League ////page for available teams, or if looking to create a league in the Free Agent or Dead Ball eras, check out the details for Creating a League.

CSFBL Classic

The simulation model that was used exclusively until 6/8/22. This was originally based on the 1977-1993 era of MLB, a time of strong pitching and defense.

  • Note - As of the 6/8 update, new leagues will no longer be created in the Classic model, but existing models can continue to run under this model. All models including CSFBL Classic should expect a higher number of ground ball outs as of 6/8, do to changes in turf/grass effects.

Free Agency

The new and improved Classic model. This model is based around the same era of MLB history 1977-1993, but will play a bit differently as ratings have been balanced to better reflect sim targets. Notably some of the strongest ratings in the Classic model should show a bit less of an impact in the Free Agent model (ex. Range), and some of the weaker ratings will have more value (ex. Contact).

Dead Ball

A brand new era of CSFBL baseball, designed around the 1901-1919 MLB era. Pitchers dominate the game, home runs are few and far between, and there is a wide disparity between the highest and lowest value players in the league.
