Team Rosters

Roster Breakdown

A CSFBL team has 3 roster levelslevels:

  • Active Roster-Roster - The activeActive rosterRoster must have 14 hitters and 11 pitchers (25 players in total). You are not allowed to change the number of hitters & pitchers (e.g. 13 hitters and 12 pitchers, or 15 hitters and 10 pitchers).

  • AAA-AAA - The AAA roster can house anywhere from 0-10 players and any combination of pitchers and hitters is allowed. AAA is typically for players that are 23 and older but not currently needed and/or ready for the active roster. Players can easily be called up and sent down between AAA and the activeActive roster,Roster,

  • Low Minors-LowMinors - The Low Minors roster is the developmental level and can house up to 20 players, including any combination of pitchers and hitters. Only players who have never appeared in a majorMajor leagueLeague game are eligible for the Low Minors. Players 17-22 years old receive increased development if they are in Low Minors. Once a player turns 23, there is no longer an advantage to being in Low Minors.

Note that only the activeActive rosterRoster plays games. There are no minor league games played. Players in AAA and in Low Minors are essentially being held in reserve for future use.use, Butbut they won't accumulate stats until they join the active roster.

Drafting & The Low Minors

Players drafted in the Amateur draftDraft report to your lowLow minorsMinors on 7/15. And asAs mentioned above, your Low Minors cannot exceed 20 players. If you do not make room for all your draft picks prior to the draft, they will not join your team. Depending on your league’s rules, you may or may not be able to get them back, so make sure you have room before the draft sims on 7/15. As an example, typically, a team has 3 draft picks (it's(it is a 3 round draft). To make room for all 3 draft picks, you must have 17 or fewer players in lowLow minors.Minors. If it'sthe date is 7/10 and you have 19 players in Low Minors, move 2 of the players up to AAA (preferably 2 players that are 23 years old or older) so that you have 17 in Low Minors and therefore have room for your 3 draft picks.

Career

As a player’s career progresses, there are factors that reflect how well the player feels about continuing his career. Players that feel good about their career are less likely to retire. Generally, most young players, and players that continue to perform well and get playing time in later years, will still feel good about continuing their careers. The happier a player is, the greater his chance to come back next year. A player who is unhappy with his career has an increased chance of ending his career at the end of the season. You can offset a player's desire to retire by giving him playing time, but if he performs poorly, it may do more harm than good.
